KADISH, GAGAN, BARTLIT TRIO'S FIRST RELEASE - 'STILL HERE'!

Image
JANICE:  Kirk tell me about your new trio and your first release:  KADISH, GAGAN, BARTLIT - 'STILL HERE'. KIRK:  I have to credit Jon Gagan with getting the ball rolling. He suggested we combine our writing forces and then even offered up the use of his studio to get the work done. A tough offer to refuse! Jon and I have been friends and collaborators since 1980 and have rekindled our relationship since I returned to Santa Fe a few years ago. John Bartlit is a legend in these parts and for very good reason. He's a brilliant musician and artist as well as a joyful and often hilarious human being. We have a delightful chemistry! JANICE:  Are you writing together or are they your comps only? KIRK:  Both Jon and I contributed original compositions to the project. We didn't write anything together this time, but there is a great affinity in our writing styles, and our choices of material makes for what I think is a very unified concept and style. JANICE...

DIA ESTRANO with ERLER PINHO

Image
Dear bentenlaughing friends. I hope you enjoy Arterial Flow's new collaboration with gifted Brazilian singer/songwriter ERLER PINHO Some months back I invited Lee to translate our song Strange Day into Portuguese. Arterial Flow's "Strange Day" beautifully reinterpreted & translated by Brazilian singer/songwriter, ERLER PINHO . Arterial Flow members live on distant shores from me so it's an often slow process in developing tracks.  We rely on goodwill and our shared love of experimentation.  After ERLER PINHO translated Strange Day he then added a vocal to our original track. I decided it required a new treatment especially for him.  Kirk Kadish brought it magically to full realization and included my original backing vocals!  Thanks again Kirk & ERLER.  I love the final mix. In the new year I hope to do an interview with Erler so that you can learn more of his own formidable music as he's a great singer/songwriter .  Cheers from the ...

Summer here in Australia & it's June!

Welcome bentenlaughing readers!  Thank you for arriving here! I live in the Blue Mountains of Australia & we're experiencing unseasonable weather but (currently) I'm not complaining....winter's can be bitter here!  Nonetheless it's a red alert for what may be up ahead. I apologize that I've not posted consistently over the last twelve months but now I'm back on track! Benten is still at the helm of my little boat!  We sail across calm & stormy seas and  along the way; I hope to gather more stories to share with you and any gleanings I discover along the way on the nature of change! I'd also like to continue to share with you my (albeit) brief interviews with artists, singers, writers, musicians, and healer friends. For instance; I've been creating a series of soundscapes with Kirk Kadish, and Jack Clift, my two cherished New Mexico based musician/composer friends and soon we'll have tracks for you to download via Nimbit. Ha...
